Frequently Asked Questions about First Aid

Clear answers to common questions about safety, prevention, and emergency preparedness.

First aid is the initial and immediate care given to a sick or injured person before professional help arrives. It is crucial because it can stabilize the patient, prevent their condition from worsening, and in some cases, save lives. First aid training empowers people to act safely and confidently in an emergency.

Everyone should know the PAS protocol (Protect, Alert, Aid), how to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich maneuver for choking, how to control severe bleeding, and how to place someone in the recovery position. This basic knowledge is the foundation for an effective emergency response.

Preparation begins with prevention. Identify potential hazards in your home (loose cables, cleaning products within children's reach). Then, create a well-stocked first aid kit and make sure everyone in the family knows where it is. It is essential that all members know the emergency numbers (112 in Spain) and have basic training.

Although there are valuable educational resources online and in books, practical training with certified instructors is highly recommended. An in-person course allows you to practice techniques like CPR on mannequins, receive immediate feedback, and resolve specific doubts. This hands-on experience significantly increases confidence and effectiveness in a real situation.

A basic kit should include: sterile gauze, bandages of different sizes, adhesive tape, blunt-tipped scissors, tweezers, disposable gloves, antiseptic (such as chlorhexidine), saline solution for eye wash, basic pain relievers, a thermometer, and a thermal blanket. Check and renew the products periodically. Customize it if there are specific medical needs in your household.

Our Story

A Decade of Safety Training

The journey of First Aid for SIA: from an idea to a benchmark in first aid training.

It all began in 2014, when a group of emergency medical instructors identified a critical gap in citizen preparedness. They observed that while first aid theory was extensive, practical application and the confidence to act in real emergencies were lacking. Thus, First Aid for SIA was born, with the mission of transforming knowledge into safe action.

Our path has been built on the firm belief that prevention and preparedness save lives. We have evolved from small community workshops to an accredited training center, adapting our methods to the real needs of families, businesses, and groups. Every achievement has been another step towards a more resilient society, equipped to respond to the unexpected.
